Singer, entertainer and icon of middle-of-the-road music, Andy Williams has died at the age of 84.

Andy Williams had a very long and successful career and had recently celebrated 75 years in the entertainment industry.  The crooner is best known for his rendition of the song “Moon River,” a song he embraced with naming his Branson theater Moon River and his use of it as the theme song for his variety television series The Andy Williams Show. His show ran from 1962 to 1971 and earned Emmy Awards and a loyal following, especially for his Christmas specials.  His records did very well with 18 gold and three platinum albums and had hits with several songs for movies such as Love Story, Charade, The Way We Were and Days of Wine and Roses.

Mr. Williams died in Branson, Mo. after succumbing to complications from bladder cancer. He had hoped to return to the stage this month, but sadly that did not happen.
