8 Ways How to Spend your Money

Let's face it, in this economy, money is tight, and you need to save money wherever possible. You might think that the cost of buying a couple of $2 of tacos every other day doesn't add up, but the truth is, it does. Make it a priority to score yourself one deal a day, and you could end up saving yourself hundreds and even thousands of dollars each year.

1. Score online deals - That Bluetooth headset you really want is at your local electronics store for a hundred bucks? Forget about it. Scour the internet or head straight to an online deals site for a better price. Chances are, you'll find the same product at 50% of cost, or better.

2. Make your own coffee-  Yes, it's nice to pop out of the office for a coffee over the course of the day, but think about how many dollars you shed from your wallet each time. Invest in a flask, and take your own coffee to work in the morning. And harass your boss for a good coffee machine!

3. Bag your lunch - Of course you want that awesome sushi or Vietnamese egg noodles from around the corner every day. But make it a one-a-week treat only. Buy yourself a (well-priced) cookbook of easy lunch recipes, and you'll never be stuck for lunch ideas.

4. Avoid ATM fees - Withdrawing from ATMs not owned by your bank can be costly. You can easily pay $3 just to withdraw $20. Get extra cash out when you're at your bank's ATM so that you won't be caught without cash later.

5. Buy in bulk - You can score yourself one deal a day just buy buying in bulk. Get that gallon of milk rather than half gallon, or that larger size of shampoo or face wash, if you know you're going to need it eventually. When shopping, always check the price per ounce to get the best value for money.

6. Re-use your water bottles - You throw away so much money by buying a bottle of water each time you get thirsty. Get into the habit of refilling your water bottle with tap water. You'll save money, and help the environment, too!

7. Price check expensive items - If you need to buy something expensive like a coffee machine or vacuum cleaner, don't buy the first one you see in the store. Always do a price check at home first to establish average prices - and chances are, you'll score a better price on a deal website.

8. Buy books sensibly - It's tempting to buy that book you really want from Borders, but the fact is, you can probably get it on an online deals site like Amazon or in a used bookstore for far cheaper. And don't forget about that wonderful institution, the library, which costs nothing.

Incorporate just a few of these thrifty tactics into your everyday life, and you'll be scoring one deal a day and saving money in no time.
